His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE, accompanied by His Excellency Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs, inaugurated the new regional headquarters of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development (AAAID) in Al Ruwayyah 2 in Dubai, on Tuesday, 14 November, 2023.

His Highness emphasized the UAE’s commitment to broadening partnership and collaboration with a variety of regional and international organisations, as part of its efforts to build a diversified and sustainable economy that stimulates growth across various sectors; prioritizing agricultural investment and food security as a vital driver of sustainable development.

During his visit, His Highness was received by His Excellency Mr. Mohammed bin Obaid Al Mazrooei, Chairman of AAAID and Chairman of the Board of Directors, who delivered a presentation on AAAID’s wide-ranging activities across Arab countries, and particularly in the UAE, as well as its role in supporting the sector of small-scale farmers and producers in Arab countries. H.E. Al Mazrooei elaborated on details about AAAID’s new regional headquarters, which is a four-storey building on a land of 5,574 square metres that was granted by the Government of Dubai; paying tribute to this grant and the great support that AAAID is receiving from the government of the UAE.

Additionally, the introduction was followed by a tour at the headquarters’ facilities and the multi-use main hall, besides the energy-efficient smart electronic systems that encourage a productive work environment. His Highness conveyed his best wishes to AAAID for continued success in fulfilling its mission and tasks to the fullest in a manner that supports agricultural development efforts, achieves food security in the Arab world and maximises the return on agricultural investment.

The new headquarters building was constructed following the latest architectural models, which incorporates smart building services that were meticulously designed and implemented using cutting-edge technologies in energy management, security, monitoring and building access. The building stands among the few smart buildings in the UAE that implement the complete set of smart building services using artificial intelligence technologies, featuring a state-of-the-art data centre built to the highest international specifications to minimise risks associated with data loss.

Lastly, H.E. Al Mazrooei pointed out that AAAID’s regional headquarters in Dubai played a significant role in ensuring the continuity of its operations and activities, and monitoring its investments, amidst the special circumstances faced by the Republic of Sudan, where the main headquarters is located.
