On 27 November 2017, Her Excellency, Emmanuelle Blatmann, Ambassador of the French Republic to Khartoum visited His Excellency Mohammed Bin Obaid Al Mazrooei, President of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development, at his office at the AAAID headquarters in Khartoum.
The Ambassador thanked His Excellency the President of the Arab Authority for providing the opportunity to meet with him as well as the warm reception, stating the potential of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development, and its projects that contribute to reducing the food gap. She further explained that the aim of the visit is to get to know more about AAAID and its fields of work and to strengthen the bonds of cooperation with the Embassy in areas that serve the development and promotion of establishing food security. This is through partnership in food production between AAAID and the French Development Agency and through the implementation of development programs with small-scale farmers.
The meeting also touched on the interest of the French side in the development of livestock through the establishment of slaughterhouse for the production of meat for export purposes. This is in addition to their partnerships with the private sector in the manufacturing of processed peanut products, and the Sudanese French Company for the Production of Gum Arabic. As well as their desire for partnership in the small-scale farmer projects on the Gezira Agricultural Project located on the Sudanese state of Al Jazirah.
