H.E Mohammed Obaid Al Mazrooei, President of the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development, welcomed H.E Jamal Saif Al Jarwan, Secretary General of the UAE International Investors Council, on Saturday 28 December 2018 at the regional office of AAAID in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
H.E Mohammed Obaid Al Mazrooei, welcomed the visit which comes within the framework of achieving fruitful collaboration between the Arab Authority and the UAE International Investors Council in the fields that enhance investment opportunities.
During the meeting, H.E Mohamed Obaid Al Mazrooei exhibited a video about the works of AAAID, as well as a presentation on the volume of the Arab Authority’s investments in Arab countries and its Affiliate Companies. Welcoming the cooperation and partnership with the UAE International Investors Council in existing and future projects of AAAID, in order to enhance partnership with the private sector in the fields that contribute to the support and achievement of Arab food security.
For his part, H.E Jamal Saif Al Jarwan, Secretary General of the UAE International Investors Council, expressed his gratitude for the opportunity of the meeting and affirmed their readiness to cooperate with the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development in the joint fields between both parties. Especially with regard to the investment side, pointing out that the Council has formed a strong link between the investors from UAE and the governments of the countries in which they invest and succeeded in overcoming many of the challenges and difficulties faced. The Council will also inform interested investors about the qualitative opportunities available in neighboring countries of the UAE, and the concerned government entities and companies in the flow of investments. In addition to contributing to the protection of UAE capital abroad by providing consult, guidance and logistical support to raise the investment rates in some countries and to overcome the obstacles and challenges facing the UAE investments, thus enhancing the economic interests of the UAE and consolidating its position on the global investment map.
H.E Al Jarwan stressed that the recent period has seen successful experiences of investments of many companies in the field of agriculture inside and outside the country, most notably Al-Foah, Al-Dahrah, Jenan and Al Khaleej Sugar Company, which encourages other companies to work in the agricultural sector. Further advocating for more investment stating that Arab countries enjoy great opportunities including Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Morocco, Jordan, Algeria, Tunisia, Oman, Iraq and Mauritania.
Both parties expressed their keenness and strong desire to support collaboration in the field of agricultural investment, institutional cooperation and coordination between the Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development and the UAE International Investors Council. Especially that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, places the issue of national food security on top of its priorities for achieving sustainable development.
To conclude the meeting, the parties exchanged memorabilia and agreed to prepare for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding relating to promotion and a joint working mechanism with AAAID, stressing the importance of the role of AAAID in achieving food security by utilizing the rich agricultural resources in the Arab world.
