His Excellency Mohammed Bin Obaid Al Mazrooei, President and Chairman of the Board of AAAID, participated in the 86th OIE General Session organized by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) in Paris, France on 20-23 May 2018.
Dr. Botlhe Michael Modisane (Delegate of South Africa) chaired the meetings, where 21 Ministers and around 1,000 participants attended the opening ceremony including; 181 representatives of Member Countries and representatives of more than 61 international and regional organizations, institutions, researchers, academics and scientists.
During the meetings, the OIE 2017 Annual Report was reviewed. This is in addition to the presentation of the status of implementation of the Sixth Strategic Plan of the OIE (2016-2020), the program for the safety of international trade in animals and animal products and the study of a number of intergovernmental standards covering methods of controlling animal diseases.
H.E Mohammed Al Mazrooei, President of AAAID, also met with Dr. Monique Eloit, Director General of OIE, where he discussed the activities of AAAID, especially in relation to the animal production sector. The meeting touched upon areas of cooperation between the Arab Authority and the World Organization for Animal Health, where the Director General said that the organization could provide technical support to the projects of the Arab Authority in the field of animal production, veterinary medicines and vaccines among others. OIE could also assist AAAID and its projects in the adoption of international animal health standards, as well as promoting such plans to attract private sector investment.
