In the context of the coordination and cooperation between AAAID and partner organizations interested in enhancing food security, a visit was paid to AAAID’s headquarters in Sudan by H.E. Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet, Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), his accompanying delegation, and representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan, on Wednesday, 30 November, 2022.
The visit aimed at discussing avenues of cooperation in projects and available investment opportunities in the agricultural sector for enhancing food security. During the meeting, H.E. Mr. Mohammed bin Obaid Al Mazrooei, President of AAAID, delivered a presentation about AAAID’s projects in Arab countries, which by end of 2021 has amounted to 53 companies that are specialized in crop and livestock production, food processing and agricultural services, in addition to development programs and applied agricultural research.
H.E. Al Mazrooei also reviewed AAAID’s typical experience of establishing a revolving loan fund for small-scale farmers, which included the implementation of an integrated technical and financial agricultural package that contributed to the development of the small-scale farmers’ sector.
For his part, H.E. the Director of IOFS thanked H.E. AAAID’s President for the great welcoming and briefed about the organization’s areas of work in enhancing the food security in Arab and Islamic countries. H.E. Mr. Baidaulet also emphasized on the importance of dedicating efforts to developing the agricultural sector, in addition to agreeing with AAAID to strengthen the bonds of cooperation and coordination in fields that serve common interests, as well as exchange expertise.
