The Arab Authority for Agricultural Investment and Development participated in the celebration of the National Agriculture Week, an exchange of knowledge exhibition organized by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry under the patronage of His Excellency Omar Hassan Ahmed Al Bashir, President of the Republic of Sudan. Under the slogan, “Agriculture is the engine of economic growth and poverty elimination”, the event took place from 23 to 29 March 2018 in Khartoum, Sudan.
The event saw attendance of interested parties from all agricultural and economic sectors and Arab and international organizations supporting the agricultural sector. During the event, AAAID was honored in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture and the Minister of Investment in recognition of the role of the Arab Authority in the field of investment and agricultural development in Sudan. The investments of the Arab Authority in Sudan are estimated at 63% of its total investments. AAAID contributes to 12 companies in field of the production of sugar, poultry products, vegetable oil, seeds and feed, as well as providing financing and agricultural services to small farmers.
His Excellency Mohammed Bin Obaid Al Mazrooei, President of AAAID, stated that this honor is considered as further credentials to be added to the success record of the Arab Authority. He further stressed that AAAID is currently focusing on increasing agricultural production in both its vegetative and animal sectors, based on specialized scientific studies and exhibitions that contribute to transferring the experiences of developed countries in the agricultural field to developing countries. This is in addition to achieving sustainable development and supporting the President of Sudan’s initiative to reaching food security.
The Arab Authority’s participation came through a collaboration with the supreme committee for preparations of the event, together with the Ministry of Agriculture and a number of private and government institutions. In addition to being a part of the specialized agricultural exhibition, AAAID also participated with a presentation reflecting the activities of the Arab Sudanese Seeds Company, one of AAAID’s affiliate companies, in Sudan.
