It was established in 1974 under a multilateral agreement between certain Arab countries, with AAAID entering as a shareholder in 2002. The company aims to provide guarantees against commercial and non-commercial investments risks in the Arab region, and to increase awareness of investment, export and guarantee industry issues through a range of complementary activities and support services that contribute to the development of the Arab investment environment.
